In the absence of proper understanding and over use of these clinical terms many clinically suffering people are not taken seriously while many who are only facing negative emotions due to the challenges of survival are being over treated with not so friendly medications. One of the key things we want to educate the public about is the careful use of the terms depression and anxiety. These terms are often used loosely in everyday conversation, and it can be easy to confuse sadness or fear with a clinical diagnosis. It is important to understand that depression and anxiety are medical conditions that require professional attention.


Depression can range from mild to severe, and there are different types of depression. It’s important to distinguish between sadness, which is a normal emotion that everyone experiences, and pathological depression, which is a persistent feeling of sadness, hopelessness, and loss of interest in daily activities.

Anxiety, similarly, is a medical condition that is different from the normal feeling of fear or worry. Clinical anxiety can manifest as persistent and excessive worry, panic attacks, and avoidance behaviours that can interfere with daily functioning.
